Prayer to God
by Mario Gerada

You toss me cruelly
in the darkest piths
where eyes can’t see,
and like raging wolves
you rip my flesh apart,
and penetrate Your gruesome fangs
right into my soul.
You devour me and throw me
in the depths of despair
where I’m afire
with flames of pain.

You gently lift me with a gentle breeze
and cradle my soul,
but violently drop me
to the land of loneliness.

And in silence He replied:
‘Root your soul in My love
and bloom with silky fragrance
of heavenly wonder
and inspiring delight’.
