A Place to Rest
by Mario Gerada

I rest my eyes
on the surface
of this beautiful sea,
I rest my soul
in these limpid waters
of this beautiful shore,
I rest my spirit
amongst the corals
and the sea horse,

In my heart I travel
in the garments of a monk,
in the heart of the monk
there is a young man
traveling
naked
amidst tempests and scorching heat,
in his heart there's a child
playing
laughing
running
echoing his joy,
in this child's heart
there is God
dwelling
in silent peace
moving in ways
mysterious to us all,
in His heart
He holds
the world.
