The Power of Fear

Fear is everywhere. Wherever we turn, someone is telling us who or what we should be afraid of.

Politicians want you afraid of the party in control so you will vote for them instead...so THEY will be in control.

Companies prey on our fears of looking unattractive, getting old, being overweight, getting sick from germs, looking dirty or not keeping up with the Joneses...if we don't buy their expensive products.

Even ministers, pastors and priests promise the wrath of God and eternal damnation if we don't listen to them and become their followers.

Those who seek power over our lives, our money and our devotion know that tapping into our fears is the BEST WAY to get quick results and get us running to where they want us to go...like cattle. And the funny thing is those who use fear do so because they themselves live by fear. Fear they will lose money, fear they will lose power and fear things will change from the status quo against them.

So they tap into our deep-set fears and insecurities as a means to get us to do what they want, and we fall for it every time. They know that once fear has been PLANTED, it will grow and never go away.

If they can SPOOK us, even a little, we will JUMP! (And usually in their direction.)

BOO! THE TERRORISTS ARE COMING! Vote me in!

BOO! STRANGERS ARE AMONG US! People of another country, race and religion are taking over our country. We MUST kick them out and block them from coming in before they take our jobs and marry our children!

BOO! YOU'RE AN ABOMINATION! God will send you to HELL if you don't stop being gay and become straight like us!

Well, our fears are not unfounded. Our daily news is filled with crimes, war, poverty, diseases, accidents, violence, extremism, injustice, corruption and disasters, making us afraid of being robbed, injured, sick, broke, invaded, victimized, cheated, outnumbered or killed.

And who isn't afraid of losing our jobs, money, well-being or health? A little fear makes us more diligent in preventing certain situations from befalling us, but the problem is, we can easily allow fear to grow and RULE our lives. Make no mistake about it, fear begets more fear and the results are never good.

A person who has been divorced may swear never to remarry because of fear. So though they may never be hurt again, they will also never love again.

A person who has been betrayed, lied to or taken advantage of, would rather die friendless and alone than trust anyone again...and they will.

A person who fears poverty will do everything in their power to make sure money comes in and never goes out, even at the expense of their family and friends...because money comes first.

Unbelievably, we entertain ourselves with movies and TV shows about these very fears starring killers, psychos, evil people, monsters, and demons, which just reinforce that we should be afraid of everyone and everything that lurks around the corner, seen or unseen.

FEAR changes how we perceive things, dictates how we live, changes our priorities and decides whether we have joy in our life or depression.

FEAR is an EFFECTIVE TOOL because it WORKS.

Are you afraid yet?

Well if you haven't figured it out by now, Fear is the TOOL of the DEVIL and he is the one behind it ALL. He is the Master Manipulator who controls the world with fear and the more he pumps up our fears, the more we fall into his hands and spread that fear to others. As long as we are afraid, we remain weak and he has us. His aim is to ruin our lives.

The fruits of fear are anxiety, obsession, isolation, paralysis, depression, suspicion, paranoia, prejudice, division, selfishness, panic, chaos, anger, war, and destruction.

As Christians, the devil especially seeks to make us AFRAID OF GOD by telling us we are no good, unloved, sinful, not worthy and deserve punishment, so we won't run to the Lord for love, comfort, guidance and strength. He also makes us afraid that our problems are bigger than God, and God will not help us. By making us afraid, he successfully keeps us from getting closer to God, rendering us weak and useless. The devil knows that if we TRUST the Lord, he will no longer have power over us, so he does everything he can to make us afraid of God and spiritually stunted and deprived. VERY CLEVER!

But Jesus can free you from ALL OF THIS.

Remember that if you are afraid of ANYTHING, then you are not living in faith. Whatever your fears are, hand them over to God and trust in the name of Jesus and He will free you from the bondages of the devil and his fear. You no longer have to be afraid of anything, but you must TRUST HIM and KNOW that He is GREATER than any problems, concerns, situations or circumstances and HE ABSOLUTELY LOVES YOU and will ALWAYS BE WITH YOU!

As we come closer to Jesus, God's peace will wash over us and He will make us strong and able to stand up to the screaming devil who is desperate to keep us constantly in fear, easy to manipulate and away from God.

God's Love is PURE. There is nothing to fear.

Embrace the Lord and He will give you His peace, and the devil will retreat, taking all his fears with him.

Let out a breath of relief and rejoice! Jesus is Lord and He has set you completely FREE!

Amen!

"Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." - James 4:7-8a

"If God is for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31b

"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful." - John 14:27

"There is no fear where love exists. Rather, perfect love banishes fear, for fear involves punishment, and the person who lives in fear has not been perfected in love." - 1 John 4:18
